the commodity catalogue embodies the pool of possibilities and the moment of individual compilation. the significance of choosing commodities is choosing an identity. commodities are a significant part of visual identity and always an indication of comparability. therefore the theoretical consideration treats consequences of mass production and the immanent role of design in that scenario. different theories from conformity, mimicry to individualism, e.g. are examined.
